KARYOTYPE

A picture of an individual's chromosomes obtained by photographing the cells through a microscope. The chromosomes are stained with special dyes that produce distinct banding (striped) patterns. The chromosomes in the picture are then cut out and arranged according to size.

Karyotype of a male because there is an X and a Y chromosome
